Transcribed and compiled by Caoimhe Ní Chaoimh from a Westmeath County Library, Ireland copy and archive scans of The Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper, which the novel was serialised in, hosted by Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, The United States of America.
The novel concerns the journeys of a young man from London named Francis Aylward as he ventures to Tramore and Dunmore in search of his uncle, Henry Aylward, Viscount Clashmore, who has suddenly vanished.
